After looking far and wide for more kakariki outside the sanctuary, the second encounter in the wild was them feeding in my backyard on flax seeds! It was late afternoon and the sun was behind a hill, but didn't want to use a flash for fear of scarring them away. So most of my shots suffered from too low a shutter speed and too much movement. I cranked up the ISO to 800 and got one or two reasonable shots before they left.
