Locality: NEW ZEALAND AK, suburb of Saint Johns, St Johns Bush Habitat: Native bush remnant (mixed with exotics near margin with college grounds). Under bark of rotten log. Same log as this observation. Several adults (both sexes, some teneral) were observed, plus a pupa probably of this species. Identification: Syndesus cornutus (Fabricius, 1801). ID based on the literature (Holloway, 2007). Small horned beetle. Approx. 1cm long. Black, with prominent ridged wing covers.
