Seen out of the corner of my eye near the end of my bike ride. It took a while to get close enough to see it was a tiger beetle.

Metallic green arthropod. At first I thought it jumped like a grasshopper, but it's possible I just noticed its shiny color while watching grasshoppers jump in the same stretch of meadowside trail. Or maybe it was flying short distances, giving an appearance similar to jumping from a distance? It struck me as having a beetleish color, but I had no idea of what it was until magnifying the photo at home. Wet meadow wildlife habitat.

Only managed a record shot, but should be sufficient for ID purposes.

Laid in the mud for this guy. Entomologist John Hafernik identified it later for me.
