This is a rather frightening cricket that was found in the grass by the pond at Louisa County High School. It is unique in its coloring and shape, so he was difficult to identify. Although it looks scary, I caught it with my hands and it did not try to hurt me. It has long antennae and is a distinct light brown color.

Large grasshopper (locust?) that I discovered in my curtains after it started chirping really loudly. About 2.5 inches long. They're very common here.

Found in a wet Darlingtonia fen. The folks over at bugguide.net said this was the most likely ID.
