This sucker was spotted on this window at the Fort Worth Nature Preserve the weekend before Christmas. This dude was huge and very red. He had some yellow detailing but most of all he had black wings a thin body a big thorax and was all the way wasp. It was a pretty but I didn't want to get too close to him. He was just one of those bugs that gets stick in the Nature Center from time to time. This dude was a very impressive size and was very interesting. I am not afraid of them but I just don't want to make them feel threatened. Wasps can be cantankerous and can make you a little edgy. They do have that formidable stinger. Wasps are closely related to ants which too have a stinger. Wasps though have a more painful stung in some cases. This dude was just minding his own when I took this photo. I wasn't doing anything to provoke it. I was a just very careful while taking this photo. I was pretty close to him. But we wound up both going our separate says without injury to each other. Wasps should always be approached with caution and are never to be miss handled.
