The Olive House Snake (Black House Snake) Lamprophis inornatus is endemic to Southern Africa and is active at night. It is harmless and often found near human dwellings, rubble and debris. Adults average 45-75 cm and may reach 1.3 m. The Olive House Snake is very similar to the Brown House Snake (Lamprophis capensis), but it prefers moister habits.
Lamprophis found near water, not agressive at all. Identification was made by Harald Hinkel, herpetologist working in Kigali, a regional reference for snakes.

This is a bruin huisslang or brown house snake. Lucas (blonde stoner-looking guy) found this one under a rock on an evening where we chased springhare. This snake was not doing too well probably from cold shock.
