Orchis anatolica is a common east Mediterranean species. Never the less, in Israel it is protected like all orchids.

Sorry to return to my flashed pics. This is an endemic and perotected species of Israel and S Lebanon. In Israel it is frequest in the mountain ridges of the Mediterranean area. The man-shaped lip is rather funny.

This is one of the common Mediterranean orchids. In Israel it reaches its south-eastern border and is restricted mainly to the Upper Galilee (where this pic was taken) and Mt Hermon.

WE found this orchid in the white villages area approaching Ronda. They occur in lkarge stands some plants are white flowered, others are pink.

This is Orchis anatolica ssp. troodii. It grows together with the typical subspecies. It grows on volcanic soils in the slopes of Mt trodoos.
, actually it is consedered rightfully as a subspecies of Orchis anatolica.

Orchis troodi is a beautiful small orchid that grows in Cyprus, it is called after the main mountain ridge of the island - Mt Trodos. It is very similar to Orchis anatolica, and sometimes one can find intermediates bet the 2 species. This is a scan of an older slide that I took in the last year I used film.
