Dead, desiccated looking, reasonably sized frog. This track is near the ridge line and I know of no nearby bodies of water apart from the karori reservoirs which are on the other side of the pest-proof fence (perhaps where this individual was heading).

a frog - need help with identification. I first spotted this frog 27th Jan. Then again yesterday and today. Doesn't make any noise I can hear. Very easily spooked leaps back into water.

Sitting on a dropped tree branch over a pond (country style pond not city garden pond). Lives here with many others who were having croaking competitions this morning but this was the only one I spotted. I think that this could be the Green and Golden Bell Frog as some of those live close by (http://naturewatch.org.nz/observations/2394725) and I have seen another ob that is labeled Green and Golden Bell Frog that is, well dark brown / black like this one.

Golden Bell Frog. old name Hyla aurea. [Ref. Forster & Forster, Small Land Animals of NZ 1970] Observed out of water it relied on its colouration for camouflage and posed nicely in damp moss. Note Corybas trilobum leaves in foreground
