Heard bird kraaking, then brief whistling. Found the kaka in the top of a tree in a residential property next to Monte Cecilia Park. Bird was preening after heavy rainfall. Bird flew back to the park, landed in large pohutukawa, preened some more, then was chased out by a tui to a nearby eucalyptus. Kaka foraged in the flowering tree briefly, then flew back up to top end of park. Minutes later four eastern rosellas chased the kaka away, following it back to the bottom end of the park. The kaka left the park, circled wide over Mt Albert Rd, and came back to the western section of the park.
