This observation was from a friend. These were taken at the Ira Springs trailhead (approximately 2100') on 8/13 at approximately 5pm. Other than the spot on his right side he seemed healthy.

"Saw three pikas in the same general location. One was harvesting, one was making the ""wind-up"" noise, where they do the short calls in succession, before the single longer regular call."

We heard the call, and saw him scurrying through the rock field. The attached files were shot with a 55mm lens. (One pic, zoomed in the second file.) It hid before we could get the big lens on for a closeup. He was the fattest pika I've ever seen.
