"Skimming Bluet (Enallagma geminatum) 26 June 2016 Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland County Road 2560/Forest Service Road 900 Wise County, Texas Skimming Bluet was the first of the observations we made during our inaugural visit to the LBJ National Grassland. But we initially mistook it for a Familiar Bluet and ended up with only four pics, all with the same perspective. It was perched two feet from the lakeshore and to get close (no guarantee that it would stick around if it were disturbed either) we would have had to enter the water and chose otherwise. So these are the best pics we got of this species and it is the first time we observe and document this species in the field. At least we know where to find it next time we go for a hike. We think we made the correct ID but any corrections are welcome. Skimming Bluet's range according to Odonata Central extends from the ""eastern U.S. and southern Canada from Florida to Quebec westward to Minnesota and south to Oklahoma and Texas."" Because of its extensive range in North America, Skimming Bluet is an authentic resident of the Western Hemisphere. The LBJ National Grassland is administered by the US Forest Service, US Department of Agriculture. Sources: John C.
