This beetle was struggling straight into a strong west wind, which obliterated his tracks behind him in ca. 30cm. Assume Pericoptus truncatus? Seasonally common in the dunes at Ocean Beach, larvae common year-round.

This beetle was being played with inside the house by the cat. I think it might have flown in yesterday evening after the deck doors were left open. Possibly Costelytra zealandica?
