Description:
Solidago spithamaea growing on top of Grandfather Mountain, another of the Mountain's endangered species. It grows on exposed rocky mountain tops and can be distinguished from other Solidago species by its flat-topped inflorescence and the toothed leaves. There are only three known populations of this rare Southern Appalachian endemic.
