Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.Excoecaria bicolor (Hassk.) Zoll. ex Hassk. Euphorbiaceae. CN: [Malay - Daun terbalik], Chinese croton. Native of Indo-China, Vietnam. Pairs of beautiful shiny leaves deep green on top, a brilliant lacquered red beneath; arching woody stems. Outstanding houseplant, but like many spurges, sap is toxic, and thus called "Blindness Tree" in Southeast Asia. Easy. Eight compounds have been obtained from the root and stem of E. bicolor growing in Tonghai county of Yunnan province (China). Leaves were extracted by various extracting procedures, using different solvents for testing the antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus.
