KreiselPig's Ears, DE.: Schildfrmige LorchelSlo.: iroki hrekDat.: April 10. 2016Lat.: 46.36118 Long.: 13.70172Code: Bot_943/2016_DSC1208Picture file names: from Discina-perlata_raw_10 to Discina-perlata_raw_18.Habitat: grassland, pasture, moderately southeast inclined mountain slope at the foot of a mountain; shallow, skeletal, calcareous soil; old overgrown colluvial ground; dry and sunny place, exposed to direct rain, average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 7-9 deg C, elevation 630 m (2.070 feet), alpine phytogeographical region.Substratum: medium size Picea abies stump, in late disintegration stage.Place: Lower Trenta valley, between villages Soa and Trenta, right bank of river Soa, 'Na Melu' place, East Julian Alps, Posoje, Slovenia EC.Comments: Two sporocarps were found at the same place as the observation on March 11 (MO observation #235333), but on another Picea abies stump a few m from the first observation and in the same habitat. Both trees were cut down on the same day several years ago. In both cases the pilei appeared on the northeast side of the stumps. Pilei diameter 8.5 and 5.5 cm. The smaller pileus was left on the trump. It finally disintegrated around 3 May. This time the pilei were mature with asci containing spores. SP very faint, color undistinguishable.Spores smooth. Dimensions 30.8 [34.7 ; 36.5] 40.4 x 12.9 [14.2 ; 14.8] 16.1 microns; Q = 2.1 [2.4 ; 2.5] 2.8; N = 28; C = 95%; Me = 35.6 x 14.5 microns; Qe = 2.5. Asci dimensions: 340.1 [369.4 ; 405.1] 434.4 x 19.8 [22.5 ; 25.7] 28.4 microns; Q = 13.1 [15 ; 17.4] 19.3; N = 7; C = 95%; Me = 387.3 x 24.1 microns; NEA 40x/0.65, magnification 400x (spores), NEA 10x/0.25, magnification 100x (hymenium); in water; fresh material.
