[2484] Pinion-streaked Snout (Schrankia costaestrigalis)

Image of Schrankia Hübner 1825

Description:

Sawbridgeworth Marsh - 04/07/12 Yesterday evening I decided to spend the evening down my local marsh which is just a 15 minute drive from my house. I set up two traps in-between sedge and reed-beds hoping for some new species. Indeed I managed loads of new species, soreally chuffed, I ran the two lights from 10pm until about 1am. My friend Colin Plant joined me for awhile for some moral support. Numbers weren't huge, but it was the variety that kept the interest up! Most notably was only my second Miller. The usual species such as Southern Wainscot, Dotted Fan-foot and Pinion-streaked Snout, were out in force, backed up by plenty of Round-winged Muslins and Small China-marks. Elachista maculicerusella, Perinephela lancealis and Acleris hastiana were new micro's for me. Perinephela lancealis is a weird beastie, it's wings look far too long and narrow to fly successfully. I did not count each and every moth so numbers are approximate.
