Description:
This was a very large shell of Neverita, about 70 mm. However the spire was completely broken off the shell, possibly by a predator. Moon snails (Naticidae) are not very common in the beach drift on Sanibel. This is the most often encountered species, although it seems that Neverita delessertiana very nearly as common on Sanibel.
