Image of American Pika
Description:
1 hr survey of talus around glacier lake. Old pika poop found throughout talus patches. Found one old haypile. One area of active hay collection with multiple nearby spots of fresh hay underneath rocks. No fresh pika poop. No sign of woodrat. About half of the talus is composed of rocks too small to be ideal pika habitat, but with some suitable openings. The other half of the talus rock is ideal size for pikas. Lots of fresh marmot poop. Whitewash is relatively sparse.
