Image of Acanthisitta chloris chloris (Sparrman 1787)
Description:
On Banks Peninsula I'm used to seeing rifleman in large tracks of dense forest and kanuka. Around Glentanner, they're quite common in the matagouri and sweet briar scrub. This one was foraging through a matagouri out in the open on the edge of the carpark and public toilet.
