Description:

Cheeseman's Trophon [both ss and subsp. P cheesmani exsculptus] Vastly different in appearance to Paratrophon cheesemani but is lumped thus in WoRMS and retained in NZ Mollusca. Shell is rounder, much heavier particularly about the aperture, often has two rows of papillae in near aperture, has coarser ridging in adulthood. Specimens live on coasts commonly pounded by heavy surf and are hard to find in anything but beat up condition.
