Description:
At about 4.30PM around 50-60 Swallows began to congregate on the wires (Pic1) as the first grey clouds since May began to appear (Pic 2). At 5.30 they began to move down to the roof of a nearby greenhouse (Pic 3) before disappearing between 6.00 and 6.30PM. The following day a further 13 individuals did much the same. A few days later the winds started to pick up flowing north to south (the Meltemi) reaching a full Beaufort force 8 by September 1st. Question: Did the swallows anticipate this?
