Description:

I accidentally caught this salamander while chasing frogs at about 11:00am. It was in a small (~3ft diameter) pool directly fed by a spring, surrounded by grassland with sparse juniper and oak. I didn't handle him too long since I knew he may be a sensitive species. It seemed to have an SVL of about 2.5cm and its costal grooves and external gills were noticeable. There was complete cloud cover and it felt to be about 68°F.
