"Is a nocturnal bird. The nighthawk feeds in flight, hunting insects, especially moths. Photographed in ""Rincão Gaia"", an area dedicated to the preservation of typical environments of Pampa, prairie ecosystem of southern Brazil, deployed in the area recovered from a basauto quarry. He nests on the ground, in places with little vegetation or no vegetation, in full sun. This second specimen built its nest in the gravel."
