Description:
The White-whiskered Puffbird (Malacoptila panamensis) occurs from tropical southern Mexico all the way to Columbia. The species often sits quietly in the low to mid levels of the forest watching for succulent insects or other prey. This particular bird was photographed on December 17, 1999, at Chan Chich Lodge near Gallon Jug, Belize. This image scanned from a slide.
