Description:
These 2 manakins were part of a larger mixed-species flock that came to bathe in this vernal pool at dusk each day. The light was not good at these times, but I did manage to sneak a few photos here. This was an awesome location to see all sorts of creatures: peccaries, brocket deer, tiger-herons, ant wrens, antpittas, trogons, forest hawks, etc. I wrote a short paper on a tanager nest I found, the PDF is at http://elibrary.unm.edu/sora/ON/v017n02/p0307-p0312.pdf.
