Description:

We had several male and female Carmine Skimmers today. Images 1-3 mature male. Note cherry red top of eyes and frons, and distinctive overall color, more intense than typical for Roseate Skimmer. Images 4-6 female. Note the lack of strong white striping on the side of the thorax and instead a more uniform tawny color. Also note the black (not brown) flanges on the sides of S8.
