Description:
Seasonal color variations of the African butterfly Precis octavia. On the left we can see the wet season form (called natalensis here); on the right we can see the dry season form (called sesamus here). They are so different in staining and patterning that early entomologists have termed them differently, as in this secondary source: Smart, Paul. (1975): The Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Butterfly World: In Color, page 68.; Salamander Books, London. The secondary source does not employ the same words as above.
