Description:
Description: English: Lasthenia californica — California Goldfields. I think what's covering this landscape here at Antelope Valley is the appropriately named plant: California Goldfields. I went there hoping to see hillsides covered with orange poppies but the day I visited the winds were 30 or 40 miles per hour and all the poppies had closed up. They were still quite pretty, but weren't at their hill carpeting photogenic best. Luckily these tiny goldfields took over the job of floral carpeting which is quite a job for a flower that's only the size of a fingernail. (Calflora) (eNature). Date: 29 March 2005, 14:28.
