Description:
Summary[edit] Description: Hemlock woolly adelgid (Adelges tsugae), Columbia County, within the Jakey Hollow Natural Area of Weiser State Forest. The hemlock woolly adelgid is an exotic insect pest that has wreaked havoc on forest and stream ecosystems across eastern North America. Small, white, cottony sacs at the base of the needles indicate the insects’ presence. The long-term infestation has greatly affected the hemlocks here, with most trees showing significant thinning of foliage. Date: 18 April 2015, 18:31.
