Description:
Summary[edit] Description: English: Hemlock woolly adelgid (Adelges tsugae), Clinton County, within the Mount Logan Natural Area of Bald Eagle State Forest. The hemlock woolly adelgid, an exotic insect pest, has wreaked havoc on forest and stream ecosystems across eastern North America. In north-central Pennsylvania, adelgid infestations are unusual at this high elevation (2108 feet). The rocky terrain and thin soil have probably made the hemlocks here especially vulnerable.
