Goniaea australasiae DC4

Image of short-horned grasshoppers

Description:

Summary[edit] Description: English: Gumleaf Grasshopper (Goniaea australasiae). Found on Forest Red Gum (Eucalyptus tereticornis) above the ruins in Dungog Common. According to bwvp.ecolinc.vic.edu.au/../gumleaf-grasshopper.. they are native, 35-52mm long and feed on dead eucalypt leaves. However www.friendsofqueensparkbushland.org.au/goniaea../ say they can be found feeding on the green leaves of Acacias and Eucalypts after dark. Who knows? Maybe they eat dead leaves by day and green leaves at night just to fool us!. Date: 12 January 2021, 19:35:21. Source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/73840284@N04/50840052702/.
