Description: Spikelets typically well over 4 mm long and florest usually about 2 mm long distinguish Glyceria grandis (right hand specimens) from other Glyceria species. The spikelets of Catabrosa aquatica (left hand specimen) are shown for comparison. Only two florets per spikelet and three prominent veins per lemma distinguish Catabrosa from Glyceria and Melica.
