Gloeocapsa sanguinea (Ag.) Ktz. — Thallus, enlarged 500 times (after Cook & Kirchner): the cells are 3.5 µ to 9 µ in diameter and grouped in colonies of 25 to 50 µ (rarely 140 µ - In the figure on the left, color the cells in green-blue; their circumference in blood-red; the rest in pink. — On wet rocks (England, Germany, etc.). - On snow, in Lapland, in Greenland.
