Alsinidendron obovatum] Caryophyllaceae Endemic to the Hawaiian islands Endangered Oʻahu (Cultivated) Some Schiedea spp., (S. obovata, S. trinervis) produce "false fruits" (actually fleshy, juicy sepals) to perhaps to attract fruit-eating birds for seed dispersal, though not documented.
