Sapphire-blue Tachinid Fly (Archytas sp.) (6906459917)

Description:

Description: A moment before, on another flower and different sun angle, this little Tachinid fly radiated with the most intense deep sapphire blue color I've ever seen in nature. I was able to approach her one more time but the metallic sapphire glow was not as visible. I waited for 15 minutes but she apparently had other flowers to visit. Sweetbay Natural Area, Palm Beach County, Florida. 3-15-12:This fly has been identified a member of the genus Archytas via BugGuide.net. Date: 29 December 2011, 10:40.
