Tamil name- NEYVELIK KATTAMANAKKU ( ‘Common physic nut of Neyveli’)(நெய்வேலிக் காட்டாமணக்கு) Bengali name- Dhol-Kolmi Stem is used for paper making ; Hollow stems were used to make tubes for tobacco pipes.Boiled roots are used as laxative ; Latex is used for the treatment of Leucoderma and other skin problems.Plant functions as muscle relaxant . Cattle won’t consume the plant ;For this reason some use the stems for fence making. Some chemicals are extracted from the plant.Generally this is known as ‘poisonous plant ’.
