Summary[edit] Description: The biologists are looking for endangered Appalachian elktoe mussels that are carrying young mussels. They’ll be taken to a hatchery run by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission where the young will be grown and eventually released back to the wild to boost diminished populations.
