Description:
Cornus sessilis—blackfruit dogwood. We can all agree the common name is apt. The fruit is tasty. Here’s a recipe for “Campfire Crepe Sauce”: 1 cup Dogwood berries (dried) ½ cup water Juice of ¼ lemon Sugar to taste (approx. ¾ cup) ½ cup red wine Combine all ingredients and simmer until syrupy. May be served over thin pancakes. —Charlotte Bringle Clarke. Editble and Useful Plants of California Photographed at the Regional Parks Botanic Garden In Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA
