Image of Dogwoods

Description:

Cornus sessilis—Miners dogwood. Clustered along the west side of the Sierra Nevada atop the Mother Lode. This dogwood possesses attractive, if not especially showy, flowers. It comes into its own as summer ends, first with gorgeous black fruit (see the cover photo for my photostream), then with a colorful display of leaf color. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
