Description:

Summary[edit] Description: English: Periwinkle feeding trails, Saltwick Nab The rocks here are rich in winkles and mussels. At bottom left are the fossils of the jurassic bivalve Pseudomytiloides dubius. The bituminous shales were laid down in seas with a low oxygen content and as a result contain few fossils. This bivalve is believed to have lived in the upper, more oxygen-rich, part of the water possibly attached to floating objects. Date: 11 March 2008. Source: From geograph.org.uk.
