Description:
Summary[edit] Description: English: On Sep 1, 2014, the top fully-developed areole of this saguaro tree was marked with a metal ring. In the next 2 years, the saguaro developed 3 areoles/year. In the following 2 years, it developed 2 areoles/year. Saguaros develop less areoles per year as they grow bigger. It is likely that this saguaro will slow down further, developing only 1 areole/year. The number of areoles on each vertical column can be used to estimate the age of the tree.
