Summary[edit] Description: English: Common Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra), Baltasound, near to Baltasound, Shetland Islands, Great Britain. Crossbills are birds of coniferous forest but they frequently erupt if there is insufficient food for the population. Then they may appear in all sorts of places and feed on anything they can find.
