Summary[edit] Description: English: Head of the longnose dace (Rhinichthys cataractae), a a freshwater minnow native to North America. The habitat of the longnose dace is cool to moderately cool streams and rivers with sandy and/or gravelly bottoms. A bottom-dwelling fish, the small dots on the dace's body help camouflage it against the sand, enabling the longnose dace to avoid predators. Date: 7 May 2014.
