Mirror Carp (9518207862)

Image of Common carps

Description:

Summary[edit] Description: Although considered an invasive species, these fish are very rare in South Dakota. Mirror carp come from a genetic mutation in common carp, giving them their unique scale patterns. It's believed they were bred by monks in the 1300s because of their lack of scales, making them easier to clean for cooking. This mirror carp was captured today at the hatchery and now can be seen in the aquarium! Photo Credit: Spencer Neuharth / USFWS. Date: 6 August 2013, 22:42. Source: Mirror Carp.
