Image of Saxifragales

Description:

Summary[edit] Description: English: Saxifrage tridactylites (Rue-leaved Saxifrage) at the junction of Tansley Dale/Cressbrook Dale in Derbyshire, England. Photo taken in May 2005 for a project to revise and publish a new edition of The Flora of Derbyshire. The plant is growing on a dry limestone rock outcrop in the Derbyshire Peak District. The blooms of Early Purple Orchids can just be made out in the background. The plant itself is covered with sticky glands, so readily picks up fibres or other fine particles, such a wind-blown seeds, as can be seen in this image. OSGB coordinates: SK171747.
