Description: Native, cool season, perennial, tufted, hairless herb to 50 cm tall. Leaves are basal, linear, 20–80 cm long, 1–5 mm wide, biconvex to terete, grooved, hairless, and slightly glaucous. Spathe bracts are 2.5–5 cm long and green to brown, with a dark brown scarious margin. Perianth tube is 2.5–3.5 cm long. Outer tepals are 12–23 mm long and pale violet to blue-violet; inner lobes are 1–2 mm long. Filaments exserted 2–3 mm, almost completely fused. Ovary is hairless and inferior.
