Branchinecta sandiegonensis
Description:
Summary[edit] Description: English: Probably B. sandiegonensis, see description: Listed as federally endangered this male San Diego Fairy shrimp, lives only in southern California's vernal pools. This vernal pool site has historically supported San Diego fairy shrimp. The fairy shrimp in the photo are likely San Diego fairy shrimp. On this field trip, however, the animals were not collected, so they could not be identified to genus. Both San Diego fairy shrimp (Branchinecta sandiegonensis) and versatile fairy shrimp (Branchinecta lindahli) are known to occur in this area and are in the same genus. To determine the species the animals need to be examined under a microscope. Date: 31 January 2017, 03:30:45. Source: Flickr. Author: USFWS Pacific Southwest, Photo by Joanna Gilkeson/USFWS.
