Description: Psathyrella spadicea (Schaeff.) Singer Image location: North-South Road near Capps Crossing Campground, Eldorado National Forest, El Dorado Co., California, USA Found by Carissa Chun. Growing in a cluster at the base of a dying tree @ ~ 5000ft. Spore print brown with slight purplish tint. Spores ~ 7.0-9.1(10.0) X 4.1-5.3 microns, mostly oblong. Gill cystidia fairly abundant, variable, mostly broadly fusoid, with thick walls near apex. A few with apical crystals. There seemed to be also some inflated cells on parts of the gill edge as noted in Smith’s description. (see last photo) Used references: The North American Species of Psathyrella by A. H.
