Summary[edit] Description: Sparassis spathulata (Schwein.) Fr. Image location: Tallassee Highlands, Clarke Co., Georgia, USA OK, is it S. spathulata or crispa, or something else? This has basal branches that in turn arise from a large underground “root” (S. crispa). But the branches are long and flattened (S. spathulata), and not zonate. (From Michael Kuo ).
